try www.shopbot.com.au that usually gives me a pretty good round up, could i suggest waiting for G80 or something to come out? never hurts to have top of the line card as soon as it comes out (hurts ur wallet though:p )

Staticice forund one for $750

I ordered a xfx 7900gt extreme last week.
With volt mods people are getting these past 7900gtx speeds.
Its a good way push your dollar further but say goodbye to your warrenty.

I was looking at gettin a 7900, but have decided to wait until the end of the year when Nvidia release their directx 10 cards as Vista is gonna run on 10 also.

XFX is generally your cheapest 7900gtx, but as MOw said, you can push a 7900gt pretty far if ya CBF OCin the bastard. And yer....it makes your warranty about as useless as realist on the Battlefield. ;)
but the diff between the GT adn GTX in 7900 series is the GTX is 512mb. The GTX at my cost is about $835.00 so if ya can get it cheaper than that your doin good.

Prob might sell my 7800gtx soon b4 the new dirX 10 cards come too.

Hey beaker, been working away last 2 days, card should be tomorrow but will have a play with it on the weekend.

Pyro has a good post on volt modding here.

http://www.planetamd64.com/index.php?showtopic=21181&st=0

Ime going the conductive pen and modding to 1.55v

Plus uping the switching frequency.

Like spinnman said, XFX are cheap atm and are on of the best brands u can get.
They also have 2 year warrenty. (pre volt mod of course) :)

If u want 512mb card, gainward and sparkle have those in the 7900gt varity.
$100 bucks more

Yeah. nice guide there from pyro, nice find.
you need to be pretty confident with the old soldering iron. And not have the Dt's from drinking for 12hrs the night before.

Im just starting to have a play wit the OCin myself.
So far im just sticking to the old Coolbits.

These arent bad.

.

so, when you think about it... how useless would that make spinnman without his shock paddles?

about as useless as tits on a bull?

All i am to you spinny is a stat, one that you are proud of because i am so recognized. And such a hard knock liven in the bronx of bf2.

dis is da realest... out...

Is it really worth going for a 512meg card or am i better off with the 256model. As far as i know Doom 3 is the only game with textures that require 512 of onboard ram (i'm proberly really wrong here :D )

At the moment i'm leaning towards a 7900GT with a voltmod and cooling upgrade. That should see me through till the directX 10 cards come out :)

Thanks for the advice Mower Man i'm looking forward to hearing how your card goes.

I was going to go with the Arctic Cooling Accelero X1 VGA Cooler, but now i'll be checking some reviews about that zalman cooler as well.

As for the conductive paint, i was going to actually solder the variable resistors on.

The Arctic Cooling Accelero X1 doesnt fit the 7900gt.

Looks like the Zalman is the way to go then, thanks for pointing that out.

I've just been talking to a old friend (mad overclocker) and i've been talked into Voltmoding the 7900GT. So i get the soldering ironand resistors ready, now all i need it a new video card and cooler :D
