I just ordered a X-Fi fatallty soundcard, as my cheap headset has a broken earpad and I am using masking tape to hold it on, I am looking at getting a good 3D gaming headset.Been looking at the Sennheiser 160 sk. But cannot find where to buy or price.
If u have any advice on headsets & sites please let me know.
Need something that will plug into the soundcard.

Also have a look at staticice.com.au
Type in the model you are after and it will find the cheapest price in Aus on the net.
Sennheiser's tend to be a bit bassy btw.

This is going to sound like wank, but imo, I wouldn't bother with 3-D Headphones. Especially for gaming, as a lot of time is invested into mixing sound in headphones to make it sound 3-D. The sound quality on 3D headphones also tends to be poor compared to relatively priced conventional headphones.
My advice- go to http://www.headphones.com.au and have a look around at something within your price range. Talk to the owner if you can (he goes by the name of snuffkin or marcus), and get him to advise you as to what to buy. He's really knowledgeable and doesnt try to pressure you to buy more expensive than you can afford like most headphone retailers do.

I don't think you need a '3D' set. The basic surround sound on headphones does me perfectly fine, at least, I know.

yeah that's the thing- computers upmix to make headphones output "surround sound". You've only got two ears, why have more than 2 drivers?

I got the Zalman 5.1 surround headset for about $70 a while ago... like eva said, surround is good. especially when u don't have a lot of space for 5 speakers.
the only problem with the headset I have is the lack of volume control on the headset itself... and I don't spare sound card in my computer.. so if I want to use that headset (come with 3 plugs), I can't use the mic at all...

i've got a zalman 5.1 and lapel mic and it works fine i found. And it's pretty good value for money i got mine for 50 bucks including a mic.
I do admit it is tough getting the mic in right position..
